It shall be unlawful for any person to keep, harbor, or have custody of any dog over four (4) months of age with in the town of Apple Valley with out such dog having a current, valid license tag issued by the Town. Each dog shall have a current rabies vaccination as evidenced by the veterinarian who performed the vaccination as requisite to licensing. A rabies certificate shall not be required if the license is obtained at the time the dog is vaccinated at a Town sponsored low-cost clinic. You will receive a reminder notice at least 1 month in advance of the due date and a 2nd reminder the day after the past due date. |

| SB 1785 Senator Tom Hayden | Extends time animals are to be held at Shelter. Prior to this bill (7/01/99) animals were held only 72 hours. They will now be held 5-6 days. The bill also requires mandatory extended vet care for sick or injured animals, adding a 25% increase to the Animal Control Budget. |

Requires mandatory spay/neuter of all adopted dogs/cats before adoption. It imposes a spay/neuter deposit of $40-$75 for dogs/cats impounded at the shelter and claimed by their owners. It also imposes fines of $35-$100 for each dog/cat impounded at the shelter and claimed one or more times. These fees and fines are in excess to fees and fines currently charged by the Town. This bill is effective until 1/1/2006 unless extended. |
