Florida w/ his family! We'll keep you posted on how he is doing!
TEACH YOUR
DOG TO CATCH A DISC
From Unwanted to Unstoppable!
His name is AusSome, he used to be cage # A1– Owner Turn In (OTI).
He is a little bit Australian Shepherd and a little bit...well no one
knows for sure. “North Star Pet Assistance” bailed AusSome from the
impound shelter and got him
into a foster home. In no time he had cleared the 6 foot fence. This was a
serious problem! Who would foster him now? How will we ever get him
adopted? We were in a major predicament. He would have to have the perfect
home with someone willing to work with him. As luck would have it that
person was put in contact with us after we sent out a plea for HELP! A gal
named Lorrie (a.k.a. Lorrie “Bitchen”) came to our rescue. Lorrie has 2
Dalmatians that are great Frisbee dogs. One is a retired World Finalist.
Lorrie decided to work with and adopt our fence jumper. She must be doing
a great job because AusSome scored 29 1/2 points at a recent U.F.O.
competition in the open division. He caught a 40 yard throw by Lorrie’s
son in a Lancaster event and will be entering the Quadruped in Colorado
where nothing under 50 yards is accepted. AusSome can pull off a 50 yard
catch several times a day. He can do 10’ back vaults (this is when the dog
uses a human body for momentum). He loves to do chest vaults with a flip.
Even though AusSome is so awesome now he has not forgotten where he came
from and the importance of helping others. Recently he rescued a pregnant
stray cat. He found her in the bushes and stayed there until someone came
to get her out. The cat is now being fostered by AusSome. He checks on her
often and they have bonded. Just another Happy Ending. We know we can not
save them all, but we sure can make a difference one by one.
